Welcome Back

Welcome back to a new school year! Please continue to check this blog for updates on classroom learning and experiences.

In room 10, a large focus has been placed on creating a safe and inclusive environment for learning across all subject areas. Students have been engaging in learning tasks that involve group work that require solving problems and making decisions together. We are off to a very fun and productive start to the school year.

In science, we are beginning the school year by exploring trees and forests. Students have been observing characteristics of leaves, learning about deciduous and coniferous trees, and spending time in the natural environment observing characteristics of trees and leaves. We've created leaf art to capture the beauty of the fall season and the varying types of leaves.

In math students are exploring number sense and reviewing their place value and estimation skills for adding and subtracting large quantities. We've been practicing our mental math skills through game play and discussing the importance of taking our time to think about what we want numbers to represent and help us describe as numbers are just another form of communication.

Below you will also see students building teamwork skills in gym, taking risks and improvising in drama, and representing different decision making models during social studies.
